When it comes to choosing the top DSLR camera 2024  edition, I looked at several factors. These include price, functionality, and ease of use. An additional consideration is the range of lenses and other accessories that are available. With that being said, let's jump into my list of the top DSLRs to buy in 2024:

Top Professional DSLR Camera to Buy in 2024

1. Nikon D850

The Nikon D850 is a powerhouse that offers exceptional image quality and performance. With its 45.7-megapixel sensor, 4K video capabilities, and impressive ISO range, this camera is perfect for both professionals and enthusiasts.

This is my go-to camera. I use it for everything from events to portraits, to nature photography. The weather-seal means I don't need to worry about a bit of rain or humidity. Honestly if you're taking photos out-doors this is your best bet. In my opinion this is the best DSLR camera to buy in 2024.

2. Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is a favorite among photographers for its remarkable image quality and advanced features. With its 30.4-megapixel sensor, 4K video capabilities, and Dual Pixel autofocus system, this camera delivers stunning results.

If you're not already locked into Nikon (or another manufacturer's system) then the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV comes very close to topping the D850. Too, Canon's lens selection and auto-focus speed are better than Nikons. Plus, when you match those better lenses with a great camera like the Mark IV look out! The auto-focus on the Mark IV is incredible and paired with Canon's great lineup of lenses it has made me consider jumping ship to Canon.

Also if you're interested in doing video this is the best DSLR camera for video. That said, I'd recommend going to mirrorless if you want to do video.

The Canon 90D, like the D3500, is a cropped sensor camera making it compact and lightweight. However, it's super versatile and excels in both photography and videography. It features a 32.5-megapixel sensor, 4K video capabilities, and 10 frames per second. That frames per second makes this an excellent choice for sports photographers. Coupled with the video capabilities, it's a great choice for skateboarders and adventurers.
