Affiliate Goals
That said, it's also my goal, Don Orkoskey, the founder and owner of WDO Photography, to help ensure that more people have access to information which will help them improve their photography skills.
Therefore, this website not only promotes WDO Photography Pittsburgh, but in fact, also requires a lot of time and attention. As such, we occasionally link to products or services that help provide financial support. That said, the money that comes in from these sources is very small. In fact, most of the knowledge you'll find shared here is done out of love.
Additionally, even when we do receive payment for the products or services we link to, we only link to them because we believe in them and think you'll like them. As a result, you'll never find articles here that are written just for the sake of selling something. In fact, there is so much of those out there which we can't compete with that it would be foolish to waste my reputation and the reputation of WDO Photography Pittsburgh doing that.
The Truth About Affiliate Link Farms
First, most of those comparison or product pushing pages are written programmatically. That is, no human behind the site has tested the products. They use AI and database tricks to populate those pages. Of course, there's nothing wrong with doing that for pages which offer objective facts. For example, comparing camera bodies where this one has x megapixels and this one has y. However, many of these sites mascaraed as reviewers when they're not. Again, you won't find that here.
In fact, most of the links that we make money from simply lead to Amazon. This is because we have an Amazon affiliate agreement. We've tried to set up agreements with others such as B&H. However, they prefer to work with those large "review" sites. This is because those sites manipulate the search engines to rank very high. Obviously, that should change but until it does, they're going to outrank sites like WDO Photography Pittsburgh.
