What photography search terms would you expect to find at the top of the list in 2022? If you guested camera then give yourself a gold star. It makes sense that camera or cameras would be the most popular photography related search given that you need a camera to take photos.

Top Ten Photography Search Terms

Rounding out the top ten photography search terms are, photographer, art photography, photography near me, photography studio, and camera for photography.

There goes camera again. Three times in the top ten is significant. People seem to be doing a lot of searching for cameras.

Photography near me strikes me as interesting because I would have thought more people would search for photographer near me. I guess I should retool my search engine optimization.

My Predictions

If you would have asked for my predictions before I dug into the numbers I would have honestly gotten it fairly wrong. I understand why people are searching for the definition of photography and of course for cameras but as a photography teacher as well as a working professional photographer in Pittsburgh and avid nature photographer I would have expected to find more types of photography to fill out the top 20 search results.

With the growing interest in film photography I thought it would crack the top 20. I figured food photography would as well. Those along with newborn photography and photography logos did make the top 25 so maybe they'll move up the ranks in 2023.

Conclusions

In conclusion it would appear that the world is looking for cameras. As a photography teacher this is great news to me. The more people want to learn photography both in person and in virtual classes the better the world will be. I truly believe that learning photography makes you a better person.

I began researching this as a way to better understand why type of classes people might be interested in taking but seeing the results I'm no more clued in at this point. That's okay though. I'm still happy that I looked this information up and that I get to share it with you.
