The best street photography locations in Atlanta are really a no-brainer. That said, some areas are great for spending the entire day. However, others offer fewer but spectacular amenities.
Of course, Atlanta is a great city for finding really scenic neighborhoods to photograph. As such, read our guide to Atlanta's most scenic neighborhoods for photography.
Atlanta's Best Street Photography Locations
Most street photographers agree that the area of downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park is great for photographing people. Just south-east towards Woodruff Park and even farther south near the Gorgia State Capitol you'll find some of the best street photography areas in downtown. In fact, I was inspired to create this post the other day. While driving down Peachtree near Luckie Street I saw a photographer and model taking some great photos in the area.
Downtown Atlanta
Most street photographers agree that the best locations depend on what you're interested in photographing. For example, it depends on if you're photographing models, candids, or architectural street photography. As we've already talked about the best places in Atlanta to to photograph people, let's talk about cityscapes.
Up On The Roof
Redditors suggest that hitting up the roof of Ponce City Market or a handful of other locations which are on private property and therefore I can't publicly recommend them.
It's no secret that parking garages are always a great idea for architectural photos. However, another great location right in downtown Atlanta is the Skyview Ferris Wheel. The nearby 191 Peachtree Towers also provides an incredible vantage point but like so many buildings it's rooftop is closed to the public.
Midtown Street Photography Locations
If you're interested in cityscapes then Piedmont Park is a great vantage point for capturing photos of skyscrapers. Additionally, it's a perfect spot for people watching. Too, the nearby streets make great backdrops for candids as well as model photos. Lake Clara Meer also provides wonderful reflections of the city.
The previously mentioned Ponce City Market area is another awesome location for street photography in Midtown Atlanta. Just up the road is Hotel Clermont. Too, the Plaza Theater and Majestic Diner offer some great spots for vintage street photography.
If you're into the Alt-hipster scene then consider checking out the Five Points area just east of those locations. There you'll find other great backdrops for cool model shoots and lots of great looking people to photograph.
Buckhead Best Street Photography Locations
It shouldn't surprise you that Buckhead Village is the neighborhood's best location for street photography in Atlanta. In addition, Lenox Park offers some great spots for street photography in Buckhead.
Buckhead is full of upscale trendy shops. As a result, there are a lot of well-to-do people there looking fashionable. This really makes it one of the best places for street photography in Atlanta in my opinion.
