Schenley Park is incredible. The Park is amazing venue for family photos, to host an event, or just to explore. If you're local then be sure to check out Pittsburgh's Schenley Park. The Park is an ideal location for nature and wildlife photography. Additionally, it's great for couples portraits including formal weddings portraits and so much more. There are spaces to accomidate large outdoor events. Plus, there are secluded nooks to escape the urban heat and hustle.
Pittsburgh's Schenley Park
Pittsburgh's Schenley Park is incredible. In fact, I've created a short video all about the park. The video touches on the fascinating history of the park. In addition, I'm giving you a list of activities to enjoy in the park. Finally, I take you through my favorite parts of the park and provide some ariel footage for a birds-eye-view.
Park Facts
Schenley is Pittsburgh's second largest park behind Frick Park. It boast over 450 acres of botanical joy. Additionally, there is a huge variety of activities and facilities in the park. For example, there are tennis and pickle ball courts, a public swimming pool, 18 hole golf course, a disc golf course, and so much more. If you like running there is a track and miles of trails.
Along with running the trails in Schenley are perfect for bird watching, nature photography, cycling, and keeping naturally cool in the summer.
Park Activities
As mentioned above, Schenley offers an 18 hole golf course, a disc golf course, swimming pool, and more. In addition, there is an outdoor ice rink, fields for soccer/football, lawns for relaxing and hosting large events, and Phipps Conservatory and Botanic Gardens.
Event Photography in Schenley Park
As a Pittsburgh photographer Schenley is a go-to location. I love photographing events in Schenley Park. There are two great venues.
Phipps Conservatory
When it comes to amazing event venues in Pittsburgh Phipps Conservatory (mentioned above) is hard to beat. Phipps Conservatory is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Pittsburgh year round. In addition they host weddings and other events. I've written about Phipps before in my article on Pittsburgh event venues. Plus, I listed Phipps Conservatory as one of the best places in Pittsburgh to take portraits.
Schenley Park Visitor's Center & Cafe
The Visitor Center and Cafe is wonderful for small weddings and other intimate events. At the time of publication it is undergoing renovations. That said, the Pittsburgh Park's Conservancy has big plans and I can't wait to see the space when it's done.
I did have the pleasure of photographing a wedding there last year. The Park's Conservancy had just taken over management. They did an outstanding job!

Also, bare with me while I get Youtube embeds to work on my website. For some reason they don't load. My host says it's not them. Plus, my website theme author says it's not them. Trust me, it's one of them. But in the meantime, please watch the video on YouTube and enjoy!
