Pre-recorded Photography Classes
Pre-recorded photography classes are similar to Youtube but you have to pay for the videos. In fact, some are things you could otherwise find on Youtube. That said, there are great pre-recorded photography classes. Here are the benefits to them:
- They’re usually less expensive
- The instructors are typically experts (think: Master Class)
- You can watch them at any time.
That said, the big negative is nearly none of them offer any feedback whatsoever. What does that mean? Well, it means, if you have a question there isn’t anyone who’s going to answer it for you. In that sense it’s similar to Youtube. However since Youtube is both free and open to the public you might get an answer by posting your questions in a comment.
Live Online Photography Classes
Live online photography classes are hosted at a set time on a set day with a live instructor. If they’re a group photography classes there is less flexibility. However, if they’re private lessons most instructors can accomidate you. Nearly all of the classes offered by WDO Photography are Live and if they’re labeled as such. The biggest benefit to live classes is that you have an instructor there live. Thus, they can answer your questions on the spot. If you’re still struggling, then they can work with you through the problem. As a result, these classes are typically more expensive. A pre-recorded class the teacher only needs to do one time. A live class requires them to be there for each class.

Group photography classes give you a great opportunity to build community by learning not only from your photography instructor but fellow students as well. A big benefit to the virtual group photography classes offered through WDO Photography is critique. In every multiple meeting class you’ll have the chance to learn how to read each other’s work. Thereby allowing you to better assess your own work and continue to grow after the class.
