The Secrets to becoming the best event photographer ever

You're looking to be the best event photographer, here are my secrets that will make you into the best event photographer near you.

The Best Event Photography Secrets

Event photography isn't just about capturing the what and the where but really it's about the why and the how. What does that mean? It means that the secrets to best event photography ever is to focus on the emotion and connection.

Emotional Connection

Great event photography is all about capturing the emotional connection to the event and the other attendees. After all, people are social creatures. The reason we host events is to bring people together. As a result, people coming together generates emotion.

Thus, photographing that emotion or capturing the connections makes for better event photography. The best event photographers know this. In fact, it's what makes them the best at photographing events.

Read my article on why capturing emotions leads to better photos here for more information. If you want more information on the impact of emotions check out this well researched article from the Bonn Institute titled: Why Images Are So Powerful and What Matters When Choosing Them.

Become The Best Event Photographer

If you want to become the best event photographer then you need to become a student of humanity. Study people. Watch how people interact and gage their emotions. Look for subtle shifts. If you do this enough, then you'll be ready when before they happen.

In addition, as an event photographer I look for gesture. People in action tell the story of an event better than people at rest. So, look for hand movements.

Watch body movement. Are people facing each other? Additionally, are their feet pointing towards each other? If they're not then they probably don't have a strong connection. As a result, they're  not likely to display strong emotions.

In Conclusion
