Join me, pro photographer Don Orkoskey of WDO Photography, for the November Nature Photography Meetup in Piedmont Park. This is a free event open to everyone regardless of photography skills.
Everyone is welcome. Join us, no matter your skill level, age, or type of equipment. Meet a bunch of other photographers, nature lovers, and enthusiastic friends as we explore the incredible nature and wildlife in Piedmont Park. Photograph plants, animals, fungus, or anything else that grabs your attention.
No experience is necessary, newbies are welcome as are working professional photographers.
The November Nature Photography Meetup is part of our monthly series of nature photography meetups in Atlanta. I began hosting nature photography walks back in 2020 in Pittsburgh. These were a great way to socialize while still maintaining proper social distance. Over time I began to advertise them. As a result, I met hundreds of photographers doing incredible wildlife, bird, and macro photography.
After a few years my nature walks became quite popular. Then, as happens, one day an attendee complained that we were not walking enough. She said that we shouldn’t call them walks if we were only walking around the meadow close to the parking lot. As a result, I began to call them Nature Photography Meetups.
That said, I don’t list them on Meetup.com because there are fees to create groups there. While I do accept donations, I don’t want to make them mandatory. Therefore, I stick to sharing the events on Eventbrite.
Please be early or on time as we begin right at 9:00 am. Meet us in front of the Dockside Visitors Center at the 12th Street entrance (by the wayfinding signs). We’ll venture around Lake Clara Meer and Clear Creek and photograph birds, squirrels, flowers, and more.
Nature photography in Atlanta is fun and easy. We’re blessed with amazing parks and wild areas. Plus, there are a ton of resources to help you get started as a photographer and to keep you going.
The Atlanta forest coverage helps birds and other wildlife to survive even in the heart of the city. If you love nature and want to begin to photograph it or to learn how to do so better then join us!
My love of nature is a big reason I host these meetups. I started in 2021 as a way to socialize safely during the pandemic. Today, they’re still a great way to meet other people interested in nature and photography. Plus, they’re perfect for learning more about our local ecosystem, photography, and each other.
In addition to all of that I love wildlife and nature conservation and find nature photography relaxing and fun. You can learn more about me on my website. Additionally, be sure to subscribe to my monthly newsletter for loads of free information to help you improve your photography.
Finally, don’t miss my Urban Bird Photography Workshop that I’m hosting in conjunction with the Atlanta School of Photography on Dec. 6th.
