I'm professional photographer Don Orkoskey, and I'm teaching an in-person teen class called the: Future Photographer's Bootcamp at the amazingly beautiful Pittsburgh Botanic Garden on Tuesday Aug. 17th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Event Details
If your teen is interested in photography and wants to understand how to take better photos, sign up for this one-day workshop lead by me, professional photographer and teacher, Don Orkoskey.
Students will receive a thorough description of how to create incredible photos of any subject through examining exposure, framing and composition, all the rules and when to break them, and much more. This is a practical class where we’ll explore the grounds of the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden and apply what we’ve learned with my guidance. Your teen will need a small, pocket-sized notebook, pens, and their own camera.
Smartphone cameras will work fine and there will be a few DSLR and mirrorless cameras for students to try out during class.
Equipment
Participants in this Teen class are encouraged to bring their own cameras, if possible. Nearly any cameras, ranging from smartphone cameras or compact point-and-shoot to mirrorless or DSLR, will work for this program. I will also have a few DSLR and one mirrorless camera that your teens will have the chance to use on a tripod, allowing them access and experience with these more advanced cameras. Students will receive a certificate for completing this course.

About Don Orkoskey
I'm a full time professional photographer. I've owned my own business for nearly 15 years and have worked as a professional photographer for more than 20. I have taught photography for nearly 15 years and teach classes in partnership with a number of amazing organizations including Phipps Conservatory and the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. I teach classes for both adults and children and lead a free nature photography walk each week.
When I'm not working I spend a lot of time with my wonderful and amazing wife Zhanna and our adventurous shelter cat Glasha who loves to travel with us and watches birds from our windows when we're not traveling.

PA Clearances
As this is a class for teens I have renewed my PA clearances to work with children and teens as of July 10th 2021. A copy of these will be provided by request to any parent wishing to verify them before signing their children up. It's of the upmost importance for me and the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden that you and your children feel and are safe.
