Kid's Photo Class Do your kids love to take photos? I'm professional photographer Don Orkoskey. I'm teaching an in-person children's photo class: Photo Explorer's Club at the amazingly beautiful Pittsburgh Botanic Garden on Tuesday Aug. 10th from 9:30 to 12:30 am.

Don Orkoskey Photography Teacher Encourage your child’s love of exploring nature and taking photos! This one-day workshop with me, professional photographer and teacher, Don Orkoskey, will examine how to use everything from a cell phone camera to a mirrorless and DSLR camera. Help your kids learn to explore and document the world around them. This class will help with STEM concepts including:

Problems solving through exposure, focus, and competition
Exploring parts of the Pittsburg Botanic Garden while seeking answers to scientific questions.
Discuss the technology and engineering of cameras and lenses.

All you need is a sense of adventure, a love for exploring and learning, a pocket-sized notebook and pens, and a digital camera.

Equipment

Participants in this Children's photo class are encouraged to bring their own cameras, if possible. Any cameras, from smartphones to mirrorless or DSLR will work. I'll bring a few DSLR and mirrorless cameras that your child will have the chance to use. This will allow them access and experience with these fun, advanced cameras. Students will receive a certificate for completing this course.

For your safety and the safety of our instructors, class sizes are limited and physical distancing and other precautions will be taken during all education programs.

PA Clearances

As this is a class for kids ages 7 to 12 I have renewed my PA clearances to work with children as of July 10th 2021. A copy of these will be provided per the request of any parent wishing to verify them before signing their kids up. It's of the upmost importance for me and the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden that you and your children feel and are safe. Both of my clear child abuse history and criminal background check clearances are available for your review.

I'm a full time professional photographer. I've owned my own business for nearly 15 years and have worked as a professional photographer for more than 20. I have taught photography for nearly 15 years and teach classes in partnership with a number of amazing organizations including Phipps Conservatory and the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. I teach classes for both adults and children and lead a free nature photography walk each week.

When I'm not working I spend a lot of time with my wonderful and amazing wife Zhanna and our adventurous shelter cat Glasha who loves to travel with us and watches birds from our windows when we're not traveling.
