Everyone Is Welcome
Regardless of your gear or skill level you're welcome to participate. In addition, this is a family friendly event. Too, if you have any mobility challenges you're still welcome. That said, if you don't mind, please let me know upon arrival so that I can avoid any paths that might be problematic.
In addition, all of my photography classes and events are LGBTQ+ friendly, open to people of all races, ethnicities, religions, and status. In fact, hate and discrimination are the only things not welcome at any of my classes or photography meetups.

The History of the Pittsburgh Photographers: Nature Photo Meetup
Starting in late 2020 I began to host these nature photography meetups. Life was normalizing. However, we didn't yet have vaccines. So, in order to socialize we needed to do so outside.
Additionally, I needed to lose the weight I was putting on supporting my local restaurants. My wife Zhanna and I were doing regular non-photo walks near our home in Frick Park. Plus, I was doing regular photo walks myself in Frick Park.
With this being the case I decided to invite others along on nature photography walks through Frick Park. At first, it was friends. Then I opened the meetup to everyone.
Weekly Nature Photo Walks
I started sharing information about weekly nature photo walks in Frick Park on Facebook. As these were sometimes well attended I knew I needed to inform people through other channels. As a result, I began to use Eventbrite.
Eventually, after the vaccines rolled out events and other photography jobs meant that my availability to lead weekly walks was over. However, I decided to continue offering these walks monthly.
Monthly Photo Walks
I transitioned to monthly photo walks in early 2022. As a result, turnout improved. I began to see more regulars. Too, I began to accept donations to help continue doing the administrative work of hosting the walks.
One attendee expressed that we hadn't walked enough was was disappointing. As a result, I changed the title from "walks" to "meetups" to prevent confusion.
