Pittsburgh Nature Photography Meetup – Jan 2025

January 19 @ 9:30 am 11:30 am

Pittsburgh January Nature Photography Meetup

Join me, pro photographer Don Orkoskey of WDO Photography Pittsburgh, for my January Nature Photography Meetup in Frick Park. This is a free event open to everyone and the only one of it’s kind in Pittsburgh.

Everyone is welcome at the January Nature Photography Meetup. Join us, no matter your skill level, age, or type of equipment. Meet a bunch of other photographers, nature lovers, and enthusiastic friends as we explore Frick Park and photograph the plants, animals, fungus, or whatever else we see that grabs our attention.

No experience is necessary, newbies are welcome as are working professionals.

We Begin promptly at 9:30 am

Please be early as we begin right at 9:30 am. We meet near the fountain near the entrance to the meadow (and for now construction site) at the end of the promenade that runs from the main entrance in front of the environmental center.

If you’ve parked in the lot under the solar panels take the sidewalk opposite of the driving entrance, pass the bathrooms, and you’ll find us where the trail meets the fountain. However, if you’re coming in between the gatehouses walk straight past the Frick Environmental Center (which will be on the right) to the end of the paved path and the fountain.

Nature Photography in Pittsburgh

Nature photography in Pittsburgh is fun and easy. We’re so close to amazing parks and wild areas. Plus there are a ton of resources to help you get started and keep going. The forest coverage we have helps loads of birds to stay here as well as lots of other creatures. If you love nature and want to begin to photograph it or to learn how to do so better then join us!

This is a big reason I host these meetups. They started in 2021 as a way to socialize safely during the pandemic. Today, they’re still a great way to meet others interested in nature and photography in Pittsburgh. Plus, they’re perfect for learning more about our local ecosystem, photography, and each other.

Learn About Nature and Photography

This isn’t a nature photography class. However, I’m always happy to answer questions and to point out things that I think are helpful both for learning photography and learning about nature. So, if you’re not confident in your photography skills and have some questions please show up. If I feel that you need more help than I can provide at the meetup I’ll suggest that you sign up for a private photography lesson or a group photography class with me.

While this isn’t a photography class, I do love to explain and teach photography so if you’re interested in more information about my photography classes then please check out the section of the website that is all about photography classes in Pittsburgh.
