Blue Heron Nature Preserve

Explore the beautiful Blue Heron Nature Preserve with me. I’ll show you how to find captivating insects, flowers, fungi, textures, and other tiny wonders that most people walk right past. This tiny macro world invites you to explore and photograph it.

Nestled in Atlanta’s North Buckhead neighborhood, Blue Heron Nature Preserve is home to the 3-mile Blueway Trail. The preserve allows visitors to experience 30 acres of woodlands, wetlands, riparian areas and meadows. See it all without leaving the city.

Along the way, you’ll learn how to recognize promising subjects. I’ll teach you how to compose photographs that reveal extraordinary detail. Ultimately, you’ll fall in love with macro photography.

Learn Macro Photography

I’ll demonstrate techniques for creating sharp, eye-catching macro images, including how to work with natural light. Learn how to overcome common close-up photography challenges. Make compelling photographs with the equipment you already own. Plus we’ll discuss when specialized macro gear can help and when it isn’t needed.

The time we spend photographing in the field will give you plenty of opportunities to practice your new skills while receiving personalized guidance and feedback.
