What Is Corporate Event Photography?

Corporate event photography is professional photography that documents business events such as conferences, meetings, celebrations, award ceremonies, product launches, and networking events. The resulting images help businesses document their events and create content for marketing, social media, public relations, and internal communications.

What do corporate event photographers photograph at events?

While corporate event photographers photograph all of the events listed above you, what do they actually photograph at a corporate event? Of course it depends on the event itself but here are the common photo subjects at corporate events:

  • speakers
  • executives
  • employees
  • clients
  • people networking
  • branded environments (including as backdrops for candids)
    • signage
    • décor
  • food
  • awards
  • entertainment
  • candid moments
  • group photographs
  • behind-the-scenes moments

Corporate event photography is more than documentation

While staff and others record photos and video on their phones to document an event a professional corporate event photographer does a lot more. For example, your photographer understands emotion, framing, and light. This ensures that they provide high quality photos that become assets for the following uses:

  • LinkedIn and other social media
  • websites
  • annual reports
  • recruiting
  • PR
  • internal communications
  • future event promotion
  • sponsorship proposals
  • advertising
  • company newsletters

Corporate Event Photography Vs. Conference Photography

Conferences are a type of corporate event but they’re not the only type. Corporate events can be much more intimate, social, employee or client focused. Too, they might be for an exclusive group of execs or focused on selling the brand to a large audience. When you’re hiring a photographer for your corporate event make sure they’re more than just a conference photographer.

Here is What makes a great corporate event photographer

Anyone can take photos but great corporate photographers have a wide ranging set of skills and knowledge that allow them to:

  • anticipate moments
  • work unobtrusively
  • understand people
  • deal with difficult lighting
  • photograph executives and VIPs
  • work around schedules
  • deliver quickly
  • understanding how businesses actually use event photographs

Here’s How To Choose An Event Photographer In Atlanta

Before selecting an event photographer for your corporate event you need to be sure of a few things. Aside from the obvious, you should ask the corporate event photographers you’re interviewing a few questions.

First, aside from their portfolio, ask to see an example from a similar event to the one you’re planning. This will give you a good idea of the work you’re likely to see from the photographer and not just their highlights. This is the work you should judge them on.

Second, you need a clear understanding of their fees and how they bill. For example, most event photographers retain the copyright to their work. However, they typically provide you with a release to use the photos in any way you need to. That said, some photographers put a limit on the time they allow them to be used or charge a licensing fee beyond their hourly or daily rate.

Make sure you fully understand what they’re going to bill you. It’s one thing to have a photographer ask for a parking per diem to cover the garage fee. It’s a whole other issue if they won’t let you use the photos without paying an additional $2,000.

How Much Do Atlanta Corporate Event Photographers Cost

Corporate event photographer costs vary. However, it’s typical to estimate at least $150 to $200 per hour at a minimum in Atlanta. That said, prices go up to as much as $500 per hour for some of the most in demand corporate event photographers in Atlanta.

At WDO Photography we charge a half and full day rate. Our rate includes the license fee for the photos. Plus, it includes parking and other fees.

That said, we won’t publish the rates here since this is a blog article and we don’t want that information to become outdated if our rates are adjusted. Of course, we’re always happy to tell you our rate over the phone, text, or via email even without providing a formal estimate.
