July Nature Photography Meetup Don’t miss this month’s nature photography meetup in Frick Park near the Frick Environmental Center with professional photographer Don Orkoskey of WDO Photography. This free, family friendly event, includes opportunities to see and photograph all types of wildlife from birds to butterflies and macro photography opportunities including flowers, insects, mushrooms and more. Everyone is welcome! Meet Don near the fountain by the Frick Environmental Center and find out about the incredible nature photography opportunities we have right here in Pittsburgh. All are welcome including families with kids, retirees, phone photographers, absolute beginner photographers, birders, fellow professional photographers, and everyone else. The meetup will last approx. 2 hours but we won’t venture too far from the starting point so you can easily leave at any time. Showing up on time is encouraged so that we can start on time and you’re able to find us. Depending on what everyone wants to photograph we may venture onto trails which could be steep or narrow. Join pro photographer and photography teacher Don Orkoskey of WDO Photography on Wednesdays between June 14th and Aug 30th for an informal drop-in basic photography class. Photography 101 Don will teach you the technical and artistic sides of photography while answering any questions you have on how your camera works, how to compose great photos, adjust your brightness and exposure, choose the right zoom level or other camera settings and so much more. February is an amazing time of year for nature photography. Pittsburgh may still be cold on the 26th of February (but who really knows). As it could be snowy we have the potential to see all sorts of wildlife in the snow. Are you a teen who loves photography? Do you want to learn more about it? Are you looking for something fun to do between Christmas and NYE? Join me, pro photographer Don Orkoskey on Dec. 29th at 2pm EST (11 PST) for this fun and informative online photography class for teens (or anyone ages 10 to 18). This class will run last for approx. 2 hours but may run a little longer depending on the amount of questions participants just like you ask (and your questions are very much welcome). WHAT YOU’LL LEARN Here is what you’ll learn in this photography class: How to control the brightness (exposure) in your photos Ways to use focus and light to direct people’s attention where you want them to look The rules of design and composition (and when to break these rules) How to use color, light, perspective, and motion in your photos for greater creativity The best ways to pose yourself or others for amazing selfies and portraits WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO PARTICIPATE Students looking to participate need a camera or smartphone. All the materials we will discuss can be done on a phone but we will touch on more advanced cameras
