Would you like to do so in your own back yard? If so\, join me\, wildlife photographer Don Orkoskey\, on Saturday April 11th at the Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll discuss how to create amazing photos of bird. Photograph birds in any setting from the heart of the city to the amazing public parks and forests around Atlanta to the vast wild areas beyond. We’ll go over helpful tools\, techniques\, and things to avoid doing. Plus\, we’ll walk the grounds of the incredibly gorgeous Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve (CSNP) in Decatur. CSNP is home of dozens of species of birds. There\, I’ll show you how to listen and look for birds\, how to use tools such as the Merlin app to identify them\, and how to approach and photograph them with care. \n\n\n\nIf you’re just getting started as a bird photographer or photographer more generally be sure to check out the Atlanta School of Photography’s full list of classes. April is a great time to review your business practices\, clean the clutter\, refocus your operations\, and move forward with purpose. \nStop\, Collaborate\, and Listen\nMeet other photographers\, find ways to collaborate\, and get to know each other better. Discuss photography issues in Atlanta and beyond\, talk about emerging trends we’re seeing\, trade information about marketing and promotion\, business administration and taxes\, location scouting\, and a lot more. \nAtlanta Photographers Are Better Together\nIt’s my strong belief that we’re better together. What does that mean? For me it means that we can learn from each other\, support each other\, and help move the local photography industry forward for the benefit of all Atlanta photographers. \nRegular Networking Meetings\nWe’re meeting up monthly. They give us a chance to get to know each other\, find ways to collaborate\, and build a strong community of photographers. \nIf this sounds interesting please join us! Plus\, this is something I’m interested in sharing ownership of. Therefore\, if you want to organize a meetup\, for coffee\, a photography session\, or anything else let me know. I’m happy to share the info and promote it. \nFees\nI wish these meetups could be free. However\, whenever it we offered free tickets (limited by the size of our venues) they’re reserved by people who don’t show up. In fact\, some people registered for 5 or more tickets (seemingly with no intention of attending). Therefore\, we’ve added a small ticket fee in order to get accurate counts for the hosting venue and to ensure availability for those who are actually going to attend. Thank you for understanding! \nVenue Ideas?\nLet me know if you have venue ideas. Finding coffee shops or other locations that can accomidate a group that can be as small as 3 of us or as large as 20 isn’t easy. If you’ve got a studio and want to host that would be great but even if you’ve just got some other ideas of where we can meet I’d love to hear them. \nAtlanta Photographers\nBack in Pittsburgh I created a website and directory of photographers that was publicly accessible. This allowed everyone to have a leg up on predatory websites like Thumbtack or Yelp which often show up in the top results.
