About WDO Photography

W. Donald Orkoskey - photographer, owner of WDO PhotographyUp until 2007 W. Donald Orkoskey ran WDO Photography as a sole proprietor focusing the business on portrait and wedding photography while building a portfolio demonstrating his abilities as an editorial photographer.

In 2008, after a steady year of growth the business was incorporated as an LLC. Over the next several years Don built the business up, continuing to add portrait clients as well as adding more commercial clients and photographing more corporate events.

Today WDO Photography utilizes several highly qualified photographer’s assistants as well as a selection of highly skilled secondary photographers for special events and wedding photography. Don has also begun shooting more editorial work again and is currently seeking media clients.

WDO Photography is a young company but W. Donald Orkoskey has been working as a photographer in the Pittsburgh area for over 12 years. He has shot for news agencies, marketing firms, none-profit organizations, museums, and private individuals. Don holds a degree in photography from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and spent additional time training with several top photographers in and around western PA. He has taken additional classes at Pittsburgh Film Makers, Point Park College, (now Point Park University), and The University of Pittsburgh.

WDO Photography looks to continue adding commercial and individual clients looking for vibrant and interesting photographer.

Arts Documentation

In 2009 Don began to document the growing Pittsburgh art scene, a cause that he is passionate about. Starting in 2009 WDO Photography began providing visual artists with an affordable choice for professional documentation of their work. To date several area artists have utilized WDO Photography to capture their latest works, to photography gallery openings featuring their work, and to help them create bold and eye-catching marketing materials that they can use to land future shows, to include in press releases, and to advertise their skills.

Looking Forward

WDO Photography saw moderate growth in fiscal 2009 even with the economic downturn and shifting market conditions. To achieve this same level of growth in 2010 WDO Photography has continued to aggressively seek more commercial clients. Clients wishing to know more about WDO Photography’s growth potential and the possibility of investment are encouraged to contact WDO Photography.

In the first half of 2010 WDO Photography has taken on new clients from as far away as Wyoming. Don has built a solid relationship with the Hardy County West Virginia Chamber of Commerce and is currently in talks with representatives of the Convention and Visitors Bureau in Hardy County about contracting to work with them.

Work in the Mountain State is picking up as Don is proud to have been selected to photograph a marketing campaign for the onsite healthcare vendor at the WV Bureau of Prisons which means that Don is going to prison to photograph the campaign. Most people are not very happy when they go to prison but to be asked to take photographs behind bars is an honor. It’s also very serious and very sensitive with lots of restrictions on what can and cannot be photographed. This isn’t a problem for Don and his team who have been hired to photograph in highly sensitive areas such as museums and other restricted access sites.

Photographers Representitive

Don is currently building a marketing plan to get back into editorial shooting and may be looking for professional representation. If you are a professional photographers representative looking to build your offerings in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia, you are encouraged to contact WDO Photography.
